Awake at night, thinking.
Meditating to stop.
Trying to remain present in life.
So much to do, so little time.
When I thought of winter, (the never-ending months of January, February, and March), I believed I would have sprawling, uneventful weekends of nothingness I could fill with completely personal, self serving obligations. Alas, every weekend is full into April. This is wonderful. Plans to see family and friends abound. However, free time, though I undoubtedly have larger blocks of it thanks to four day work weeks, is going missing all too often.
Perhaps a stricter schedule will help. My normal schedule has been jostled a bit. My yoga teacher moved her business to the middle of nowhere, also known as East Bumblefu*k. For some reason, going to a new place is still not happening for me. I just have to let it go. Things change all the time.
I am currently cleaning up my desk, in an effort to cleanse the energy of the small space I happen to occupy more often than my blog lets on. I found a little yellow post-it note.
It reads:
“the pain of forfeiting
is worse than losing
fair and square”
It moved me. I believe it’s a timeless grouping of words. I don’t remember when I wrote it.
No matter what obstacles and problems you may be facing, don’t give up.

I cannot refrain any longer.
I must tell the world…
The notion that Jesus was born of a virgin is one of the most insane ideas humans have ever come up with and believe in. I think anyone who believes that Mary didn’t make it with a man is mentally ill. The story, and that is exactly what it is, happens to be physically impossible.
My apologies to the offended. However, I think you should go sit in a quiet place and ask yourself:
Do I really believe in this? And then… WHY?
If anyone tries to tell me I am going to hell, then so be it. I don’t believe in hell anyway.

Binghamton has a new bookstore down Court Street called RiverRead Books

I learned about this bookstore from a local paper that targets women. Don’t guys like to read books too? The business happens to be owned by three women and they have done a fantastic job.
RiverRead Books is a wonderful addition to downtown Binghamton. I visited the store with my sister and boyfriend this past Friday, which happened to be First Friday. There was music, wine, food, and there were many people wondering about and purchasing books. I am going to a Christmas Tea today and everyone who attends will be donating books to children in need. I chose to buy Corduroy, one of my childhood favorites. The book also happened to be on sale at 20% off. The women who own the bookstore rang me out and they were very friendly. I admire what they have accomplished. The bookstore is a small space, but has a lot of variety in terms of selection. I imagine I will be returning to browse or shop for other people.
On our way out of the store, my boyfriend picked up a book called Stuff White People Like. We read several pages and could not contain our laughter. It is so obviously politically incorrect, yet so true. I loved it. I believe the number one item was Coffee. You should definitely check out the blog, which I linked to above and will be placing in my blogroll.
I propose that #118 be Local Bookstores!!! It’s true… right?
Have a Happy Sunday.

I have been dreading upgrading my old version of WordPress for over a year. I am relatively new to the blogosphere or whatever people are calling it these days. I feared losing my content or messing up my site somehow after reading stories about people who found the whole process to be confusing and laborious.
I wanted to add a Google Analytics plugin for WordPress, and found that the version of WordPress I had would not support the plugin I was looking into using. I found hope and success when I came across the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin
Anybody who needs to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress should get this plugin. It is self explanatory with easy to follow directions. The process of updating took less than a few minutes. I was so pleased with the outcome that I sent the creator a donation, wrote a happy comment on his blog, and now I am writing this mini review on my blog.
Yay! Automatic Upgrade !

On April 29, 2008 I wrote a blog about cleaning my apartment.
I wrote that I would let you know how it went.
Well, I finally got around to it in November. Spring, Summer, and Fall are far too beautiful to sit inside, dealing with boring things like piles of paper to be sorted or shredded, junk mail, books, magazines, clothing, and the Stuff I mentioned in Clearing the Clutter.
Here is what I did:
I broke up my cleaning tasks into rooms. For example: Dining Room (which was the biggest offender in the house)
I set a date. As if cleaning were an event to look forward to. (it worked… mind over matter)
I kept my attitude positive, even when I wanted to stop.
I trudged onward, reminding myself that I wanted to achieve this goal. (it’s been over a year)
I took breaks for eating and brief escapism.
I became disciplined and I am now a bit militant about maintaining the space.
Maintaining your sense of place is work. I find that the energy of a space changes dramatically when the clutter is removed. I have been blogging more as a result. I feel more free to do other things. The clutter isn’t weighing down on my mind anymore and it isn’t engulfing my desk area. I am on a roll. I cleaned out the back porch area… mopped the floor and made it a more useful, open space. I have been maintaining my bedroom for months now. Next up, the front porch and front vestibule.
I am curious about what I will do when I have nothing left to organize and no more intense cleaning to accomplish.

I was just looking at the header on My Project Life with satisfaction.
The graphics, colors, shapes, and words were created by me over one year ago.
Happy Belated Birthday, Blog.
ps: Children never grow up to be how you imagined they would be. Just let them be.
